Oct. 25, 2007

Box Score

LEBANON, Ill. - Lewis concluded the 2007 season with a 1-0 setback at McKendree on Wednesday evening in a non-conference game.

The only goal of the game came at 18:51 by McKendree's Sarah Ryan, assisted by Brittany Fuzessery.

Lewis junior Courtney Kettel recorded four shots on goal. The Flyers out-shot the Bearcats 9-8 and held a 6-4 edge in corner kicks.

Lewis goaltender Megan George recorded seven saves.

McKendree's Amanda LaGrow registered nine saves.

McKendree improved to 12-2-2. Lewis finishes the season 6-11-1 and 4-8-1 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

The Lewis women's soccer program took a major step forward in 2007 under first-year head coach Chris Koenig. The Flyers finished with their most conference victories since 1999 and tied for the most overall victories since 2000. Lewis registered conference victories over two teams in the GLVC Tournament: Wisconsin-Parkside and Saint Joseph's. The Flyers also played third place Drury to a tie. Drury is currently fifth and Wisconsin-Parkside is seventh in the Great Lakes Region.

Individually, Courtney Kettel had a breakout season, scoring nine goals, tied for fourth in the GLVC. Sophomore Amy Foran notched seven goals after entering the season with none. Koenig and the Flyers will build on these accomplishments as they look towards 2008.
