Carlson Named All-America Scholar

July 10, 2008

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University senior Brian Carlson has been named a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar, as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Carlson, an All-America scholar for the first time in his career, was one of just 26 golfers honored in NCAA Division II. He also was only one of three golfers from the Great Lakes Valley Conference to receive the accolade.

Carlson's 75.60 stroke average ranked second on the team in 2007-08. He carded a low-round of 70 at the NKU Invitational on April 6. In the classroom, Carlson was a member of the Deans' List, a Delahanty Award recipient and a two-time Academic All-GLVC honoree.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 78.0 in Division II and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
