Lewis Men's Golf Eighth At Murray State

MURRAY, Ky. - The Flyers' men's golf team is tied for eighth after the first day of the 2008 Murray State Invitational. Lewis fired a 291 in the first round and then a 293 to total a 584.

Junior Paul Dagys (Oak Forest, Ill./Oak Forest) shot a team-high 144 (71-73) to tie for 18th. Only two shots behind is junior Peter Tananka (Naperville, Ill/Waubonsie Valley), shooting a 146 with two rounds of 73. Sophomore Logan Watts (New Albany, Ind./New Albany) and senior Greg Roderique (Aurora, Ill./Waubonsie Valley) each shot a 147 to tie for 32nd. Watts shot a 72 and 75. Roderique followed a 75 with a 72. Freshman Stanley Wilczek (Lemont, Ill./Lemont) tied for 79th (86-75=161).

The Flyers also had two compete as individuals. Sophomore Nick Quagliano (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) (79-76=155) tied for 65th. Sophomore John Whiting (Bloomfield Hills, Mi./Detroit Country Day) (82-75=157).

The Flyers are tied with Tennessee-Martin. Tennesee-Martin's second team is a shot ahead in seventh. Tennessee Tech is four shots ahead and Western Illinois is six. The Flyers are ahead Division I schools Eastern Kentucky and Bradley along with conference-foe Kentucky Wesleyan.

The tournament is taking place at the Miller Memorial golf course, playing at 6,601 yards to par of 71. Murray State leads with a 551.
