WALNUT, Calif. - The third time was the charm for Lewis University senior Adrian Myers. After coming up short each of the previous two years, Myers earned the first individual All-America honor of his collegiate career Saturday with an eighth-place finish in the 800 meters at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Myers' clocked a 1:51.68 to claim eighth in the final of the 800, finishing just nine-hundredths of a second ahead of Danil Maina of Abilene Christian. Only the top eight finishers in each respective event earn All-America plaudits at the national meet. Myers' position in the finals was secured with a 1:51.27 effort in the preliminaries. He was the eighth fastest of the nine runners who advanced to the final. At the past two outdoor championships, Myers' bid for a spot in the 800 final ended in the preliminaries. Myers was one of three Flyers to participate at the outdoor championships. Senior Terran Wertz competed in the 1500 meters (4:39.05), but she missed the cut for the final by two spots. Senior Dan Probst competed in the discus throw (157-5) but was unable to advance past the preliminaries. The championship meet took place at Hilmer Lodge Stadium on the campus of Mount Antonio College. California State Polytechnic University Pomona was the event host.
